Atomic-safe shelter

The atomic-safe shelter from BSSD is an underground high-security solution made of massive reinforced concrete, designed to protect people in extreme hazard situations. These include in particular nuclear events, explosions, pressure waves, as well as chemical and biological contamination.

The construction is carried out in accordance with the recognized guidelines of the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance and is suitable for private as well as governmental and infrastructure applications. Through modular planning, the shelter can be precisely adapted to the structural conditions and the desired security level.

Construction & protection concept

The shelter consists of a monolithic reinforced concrete structure with high wall and ceiling thickness. This ensures reliable shielding against pressure, radiation, and mechanical воздействия. The underground construction further increases protection against direct impact from explosions or debris loads.

Explosion protection valves and gas-tight shut-off dampers secure the supply and exhaust air system and prevent the ingress of contaminated outside air.

Air supply & autonomous basic equipment

Depending on room size, the shelter is equipped with a performance-adapted NBC gas filtration system. This filters radioactive particles as well as chemical and biological contaminants from the incoming air and enables safe occupancy for a defined period.

Planning & integration in new construction

The most technically efficient implementation takes place during the planning phase of a new building. During the shell construction phase, wall thicknesses can be specifically increased and door and emergency exit openings can be structurally integrated. In peacetime, the shelter can be flexibly used as a storage or technical room.
