We specialize in planning, developing, and building secure and state-of-the-art protective structures that meet the highest safety requirements—whether for private, industrial, military, or governmental applications.
The history of BSSD Defence
BSSD Defence GmbH originated from the experience of a traditional construction company in the 1990s that had already specialized in building reinforced concrete shelters for private and governmental clients.
In 2014, Mario and Katrin Piejde founded Bunker Schutzraum Systeme Deutschland (BSSD) to focus specifically on high-quality shelters, bunkers, and security solutions. This step was driven by increasing demand and growing interest in secure structures due to rising geopolitical tensions.
Demand for BSSD solutions has increased significantly in recent years, particularly since the annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the war in Ukraine in 2022, as awareness of potential threats has grown. In addition to private shelters, the company develops intelligent security technologies, panic rooms, and security solutions for businesses and public authorities.
With a clear objective—to become a leading provider of shelter and security technologies in Europe—BSSD is expanding its capacities, entering new markets, and continuously developing innovative security solutions for the future.

Research & Development
BSSD Defence GmbH is deeply involved in the research, development, and certification of new construction materials and their future applications in construction and security. The company develops innovative security solutions for buildings, mobile protection systems, and personal safety, which are integrated into its own products and systems.
BSSD creates technological solutions as system-based approaches for the civil, public, and military sectors. These result in sustainable, targeted, and future-proof concepts tailored to specific customer requirements.
In collaboration with research partners, including RWTH Aachen University and various testing laboratories, BSSD develops new security components for civil, public, industrial, and military applications. Different materials are strategically combined and implemented in shelter components.
