Dräger CPS 5800 – Gas-Tight Chemical Protective Suit Type 1b
The Dräger CPS 5800 is a gas-tight chemical protective suit with limited reusability, designed for industrial applications and maritime use. It provides reliable protection against hazardous gases, liquids, and solid substances. The self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) is worn externally over the protective suit (Type 1b).
Comprehensive Protection for Versatile Applications
Whether for emergency response, maintenance and repair work, or tank cleaning, the Dräger CPS 5800 offers a high level of protection. It meets international requirements for industry, fire services, and maritime operations, including EN 943-1, EN 943-2, and the SOLAS Convention for use aboard seagoing vessels.
As a limited-use protective suit, its mechanical resistance is lower than that of reusable models such as the CPS 7800. Nevertheless, it provides reliable protection for a wide range of typical operational scenarios.
High Wearing Comfort and Practical Design
The suit is based on the proven design of the Dräger WorkMaster Pro ET and offers excellent wearing comfort. The soft Zytron® 500 laminate material provides flexibility and comfortable wear, even during extended operations.
The integrated Dräger face cuff is flexible and can be worn either under or over the respirator mask, allowing the suit to be donned easily even without a connected breathing mask.
Robust Construction and Reliable Workmanship
All seams are welded on both the inside and outside, providing a high level of protection against hazardous substances. Combined with the high-quality materials and workmanship, the suit offers a service life of up to ten years.
Practical Features
The Dräger CPS 5800 includes the following features:
- Diagonal front entry for easy donning without assistance
- Gas-tight zipper with external zipper chain, closing from top to bottom
- Double protective flap with full-length hook-and-loop closure to protect the zipper
- Soft, flexible butyl face cuff
- Integrated gas-tight socks with splash guards for various boot sizes
- Permanently attached glove combination: laminate inner glove, butyl outer glove
- Dräger overpressure valve on the front for pressure relief
Applications and System Integration
The protective suit is designed for industrial applications as well as maritime operations. When combined with compatible system components such as self-contained breathing apparatus, helmets, or cooling vests, the level of protection can be individually expanded.
